Father’s Birthday
Well in a few days I have my Father’s Birthday coming up. I am usually fairly well prepared, I go out,
buy a card and a present and I’m done.
However, within the last couple of years, I have started to make the odd
card here and there. So far I have
exclusively used Graphic 45’s wonderful paper collections, and I think I will
probably continue to do so. They are so
beautiful and fit perfectly into any project.
With that in mind, I have made my dear Dad’s Birthday card. (Oh and his gift!)
This is something really unusual that I came across, something I
instantly fell in love with, and of course wanted to change and tweak. So I made my own version of what started as an
envelope with a flattened cube contained inside of it…
As you will see from the video below I have gone for a military
theme. My Dad is a military man and I
thought he would quite like this. I have
tried to make the box, that is made from chipboard, as manly as I could. Even using tape and elastic bands, seemingly,
to hold it together.
I published this video onto a page I am a member of on Facebook, and I
had such a huge response. A lot of people
were interested in learning how to make the cube pop out of the box like they do. So I made a video tutorial.
I have NEVER made a tutorial before, and I was so nervous. But I made myself do it, as it’s something I
want to improve on and do more of.
Here is my tutorial…… Please be kind hahaha
UPDATE
I gave my Dad his pressie and he absolutely loved it! However…..It didn’t pop!!! I think the elastic
bands had stretched and relaxed. I was
so upset! So, I guess If you want them
to bounce upon first opening, let them be in their cube form for as long as
possible before giving them to their recipient!
I am going to do an experiment and take them out the box for an hour
next time I am there and see if that will make any difference.
I would like to find out what the shortest time I have to have them out
is, before they will work again.
